Selecting the right New York Private School for your child can be both harrowing and fascinating. If you are starting the process with a young child and looking into early education and elementary education opportunities then the process will be new to you and may be a little overwhelming at first. If you are helping your older child choose a Middle School or preparatory High School then you are aware of the admissions process and probably already have some schools in mind, though it makes no difference in stress level. There is still work to be done, even though it feels like you should be taking the summer off.
Many people are under the assumption that they need to have their child’s application into a school in order to schedule a tour. While that is true for many schools, it is by no means the rule. In fact, July is the perfect time to make arrangements for you and your child to tour schools that you find interesting. For those schools that allow this, there is no need to have an application in, only the requisite interest in the school itself.
A summer tour may not give you and your child the advantage of seeing classrooms filled with students and a direct view into the day-to-day learning environment, which is a necessity for a final choice, however summer tours will give you a unique view into the school atmosphere, facilities and grounds as well as provide you with an opportunity to meet with some of the staff.
