Advisory Team

Sushil Cheema, M.S., Multimedia Journalist
Sushil Cheema is a New York City-based journalist. She has covered a number of topics, ranging from the city’s burlesque scene to the nation’s foreclosure crisis. Her work has appeared in number of publications, including The New York Times, for which she reported on the Spitzer scandal, crane collapses and a Red Sox Jersey. Sushil received her B.A. in Anthropology from Columbia University and her M.S. in Journalism from Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism.

Jennifer Cohen, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Jennifer Cohen is a licensed clinical psychologist, with offices in New York City and Westchester County, where she provides assessment, consultation, and psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults. She regularly consults to Firm Schools in New York City on issues related to neuropsychological and learning disorder assessments for their students. Dr. Cohen completed her undergraduate training at Yale University, where she earned high honors for her thesis on the cognitive and psychosocial factors associated with Attention Deficit Disorder and coordinated research projects at the Yale Child Study Center. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from The City University of New York and served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Columbia University Counseling Center. Over the past fifteen years, Dr. Cohen has worked in several New York City hospitals, including Bellevue, St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center, and the New York State Psychiatric Institute, where she completed postdoctoral training as part of a team delivering neuropsychological testing services to various inpatient units. She has written several articles on children’s developmental and clinical issues and currently serves as a Clinical Supervisor in the clinical psychology doctoral program at Teacher’s College, Columbia University.

Mark Horney, Ph.D., MBA, Clinical Psychologist & Executive Coach
Dr. Mark Horney is a licensed clinical psychologist with offices in Manhattan and Scarsdale, NY, where he provides psychotherapy for adults focused on a range of issues including depression, anxiety, identity development, work/life integration, and career development. Dr. Horney earned his B.A. with honors from Yale University with a major in History. He completed his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the City University of New York and his pre-doctoral internship and clinical fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center in the Department of Adult Psychiatry. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Horney is an executive coach and career management expert who has worked with hundreds of professionals across multiple industry sectors over the past twelve years. His own corporate experience includes positions within the investment banking, media, and healthcare industries. He earned his MBA at Columbia Business School, where he currently serves as Director of Career Management for the School’s executive MBA programs. Dr. Horney also holds a certificate in Organizational Consultation and Executive Coaching from the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research.

Courtney Rennicke, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Courtney Rennicke is a child, teen, and adult psychologist in private practice in downtown Manhattan and an adjunct faculty member of Teachers College, Columbia University, where she supervises clinical psychology doctoral students. Dr. Rennicke received her B.S. from Cornell University with a major in Human Development and Family Studies with Honors for her on-site research of the emotional and systemic impact of trauma on an intensive care burn unit. Dr. Rennicke completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Columbia University and her pre-doctoral internship at Columbia University Medical Center in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She has worked with children, adolescents and families with experience in treating depressive, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity, posttraumatic stress, and disruptive behavior disorders, as well as mental health issues secondary to bereavement, adoption, and medical conditions. Dr. Rennicke is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, collaborative problem solving, parent infant psychotherapy, and dyadic developmental therapy. She has co-authored professional articles on trauma and resiliency, and bipolar disorder and creativity.

Petra Riviere, M.A., Educator
Petra Riviere received her B.A. in History from Haverford College and holds an M.A. in Social Studies Education from NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education & Human Development. Ms. Riviere has worked in various fields during the past 13 years. These include work in environmental education as an AmeriCorps Member with NJ Community Water Watch/NJPIRG Law & Policy Center, where she worked with interns,
conducted afterschool workshops, tested waterways, and served one year as Team Leader for members at 10 statewide sites. Additionally, Ms. Riviere has worked as a Program Associate in the Education Department
at The Bronx Museum of the Arts, where she coordinated programs for teachers, artists and students. While at the Museum, three of her essays were included in the institution’s Permanent Collection catalog, Collection Remixed. Ms. Riviere currently works as a social studies teacher at The Urban Assembly Academy of History and Citizenship for Young Men (UAAHC), one of the only all-boys public high schools to open in NYC in the last 30 years. In her position, she also serves as the 9th Grade Team Leader, Fundraising Committee facilitator, Youth Service Club Advisor, and History Department Co-Leader. Ms. Riviere has been the recipient of various summer institute study/travel grants, which have been awarded from the National Endowment for the Humanities and The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
