Saint Demetrios Greek-American School, a Queens Private School located in Astoria, is the largest co-educational Greek-American School in the US. This private Pre-K -12th grade school houses about 600 students. The Upper Elementary, Junior High and High Schools are located on 30th Drive and the Lower School is on 33th Street in the heart of the Greek Community. All students wear uniforms.

As a traditional community Greek day school, we are dedicated to producing well rounded, well prepared and spiritually grounded students who have the ability to embrace the world with a commitment to Saint Demetrios. At Saint Demetrios, we offer a thoughtful balance of general and Greek Orthodox studies designed to excite, inspire and challenge each child.

The Saint Demetrios School is committed to provide each student an outstanding opportunity to achieve academic excellence in an environment which fosters a strong sense of community within a culturally student body.

The philosophy of the school includes these five main points:

1. Encourage each student’s self-realization by increasing his/her knowledge and skills so that he/she may become productive a person and responsible citizen.
2. Develop each student’s critical faculties by assisting him/her in making rational and constructive choices.
3. Expand the student’s insight into human motivations and experience so that he/she may better understand himself/herself and others.
4. Cultivate constructive social attitudes and behavior.
5. Increase the knowledge of our Hellenic Orthodox faith, Heritage and the humanistic values that are inherent to our traditions.

Advanced placement courses in European History, U.S. History, Economics and Government courses are offered at the junior and senior level. Although this school is not affiliated with the New York City Department of Education, they follow all Regents requirements and offer both Regents and Advanced Regents Diplomas.

The current senior class consists of 60 students. In 2008 this school graduated 100% of their senior class and had 100% college acceptance rate.

Tuition ranges from $4,000 for Pre-K to $5,000 for the upper grades.
