NYSAIS/Center Kids Independent School Fair for LGBT Families

The annual Center Kids/NYSAIS Independent School Fair for LGBT Families will held tonight, Thursday, April 22, from 6-8 p.m.

The Center is between 7th and 8th Aves

Participant schools will showcase school materials and speak directly with LGBT parents eager to find welcoming and inclusive schools for their children. Representatives will include Directors of Admissions, Diversity Directors, and LGBT parents currently attending a particular school who can speak about their experiences.

The evening’s schedule is as follows:

  • 6PM School exhibits open
  • 6-7PM Panel presentation and Discussion: “Welcoming LGBT Families to Independent Schools”
  • 8PM School exhibits close

This is a unique and valuable opportunity for LGBT families to be able to identify and connect with schools that are genuinely enthusiastic about welcoming them into their school communities.

Members of the Calhoun School and the Little Red School House/Elisabeth Irwin High School community will be participating in the NYC Pride March on Sunday, June 27, 2010. Both schools will be represented on a float that will accompany them along the parade route.
