A Dialogue about Education for Parents of Accelerated Learners
The Workshop Series
The P.A.L. monthly workshop series helps parents of accelerated learners understand important topics relevant to their young child’s cognitive, social & emotional development. Experts and practitioners in the field of gifted and talented education and parent advocates will join our panel for a dialogue with you about educating and nurturing these unique learners.
Workshop #3 – WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25, 2012, 6:30-8:00 pm
Special Topics in Gifted Education: Guiding Gifted Girls & Brilliant Boys
Finding the right school for your child can be a struggle, but educating advanced learners can be further complicated by gender differences and the contrasting views parents continue to hear from experts. Dr. Razel Solow, the Director of the Center for Gifted Studies and Education at Hunter College, will help parents better understand, support and guide their gifted girls using examples from her new book, College at 13: Young, Gifted and Purposeful. Hunter College professor Howard Fuchs will share his experiences working with gifted boys in this session focused on both elementary and middle school boys and girls.
- Angelique LeDoux, founder of the P.A.L. Workshop Series and Jade’s ToyBox
