Focus On Bay Ridge Montessori School

by NYC Firm Schools on March 26, 2012

The Montessori method has been a popular educational model for more than 100 years. Many a private school in New York City has used the method and continues to do so. The Bay Ridge Montessori School has been doing so since 1970.

The school caters to young children between the ages of 2 and 5. Started by a group of parents, the school seeks to nurture children to maturity to prepare them for their next level of education.

The school’s outdoor play area is incredible. They maintain it as if it were a public park, keeping it lush and green and safe for children to play. In fact, children are allowed outdoors to play once a day if the weather permits.

The school’s director is very active in the learning process at Bay Ridge Montessori School. She has obtained a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Brooklyn College and has held her position for 13 years giving children and parents an expected level of stability. She and the school respect the individuality of the children and allow children to grow at their own pace.

The students at Bay Ridge Montessori School take frequent field trips. They are divided into preschool – for 2 and 3 year olds – and pre-kindergarten – for 4 and 5 year olds. The preschool children do not need to be potty trained for admittance. The school is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Full days and half day classes are available as options. Parents can drop off their children as early as 8 a.m. Additionally, a summer camp is available.

Parents in Brooklyn looking for a solid Montessori education for their young children should consider Bay Ridge Montessori School.
