Focus On Holy Spirit School

by NYC Firm Schools on October 8, 2010

Holy Spirit School is a Catholic elementary and middle school and is a part of the Archdiocese of New York. It is located at 1960 University Avenue in The Bronx.

Offering courses from Pre-K through 8th grade, Holy Spirit School is operated by the Parish of the Holy Spirit. The school has been in operation since the 1920s. The school got its start as a way to reach out to Irish immigrants and provide for them a place for their children to receive a quality education. Today, the school still serves as an outreach to immigrants and new arrivals to America’s shores.

While students of all faiths are welcome to attend Holy Spirit School, the school does follow a curriculum passed down from the Archdiocese of New York.

Among the offerings of Holy Spirit School are:

  • All day kindergarten
  • Religious instruction
  • Integration of the Internet and the classroom
  • Title I education services
  • Summer school

Holy Spirit School also offers several extra-curricular activities throughout the year. These include music and drama, mission activities, class Masses, field trips, career orientation, sports, arts and crafts, choir, yearbook club and a lot more.

Educators at Holy Spirit School take the education and development of the whole child seriously.
