Focus On Little People’s Place

by NYC Firm Schools on July 2, 2012

Little People’s Place is a full-time licensed daycare that caters to both working parents and those attending school. It’s located near the City College of New York campus on 140th street at Convent avenue.

In operation since 1989, Little People’s Place strives to provide a nurturing environment that is conducive to learning as well as a fun and lighthearted environment where the children feel comfortable. The staff as well as the director hope that each child will consider Little People’s Place a second home and be as comfortable there as they are in their own home.

The facility accepts children from the age of six months to two years old. Because of the age of the children, education readiness is kept to a minimum and basic life skills are stressed. Activities such as:

  • learning to tie shoes
  • learning to share
  • free play
  • story time
  • potty training
  • learning colors, numbers and shapes
  • language and vocabulary work
  • beginning reading readiness

There are also daily nature walks (weather permitting) and Little People’s Place also contracts to have outside instructors in music, art and dance six times per month. Each child also receives breakfast, lunch and a snack daily.

The staff and director are all certified child care providers and licensed with the state of New York.

The scheduling of services is very flexible and gives parents the ability to be certain that their child is well cared for when they have to be in class or at work. Full day is considered to be Monday through Friday 8am to 6pm. Saturday has a special all day rate and the facility is also available on an as needed basis.
