Machon Chana Women’s Institute is a yeshiva for girls located in Brooklyn, NYC.
Started in 1972, Machon Chana was formed by the inspiration of Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, who believed that Jewish women provide the continuity of the Jewish people. Therefore, the Lubavitcher Rebbe wanted to establish a place where Jewish women could safely study the Torah for personal development with the goal of becoming a productive member of community.
With that in mind, Machon Chana was established with three goals:
- Provide comprehensive Torah education
- Infuse women with a strong sense of purpose
- Provide tools for lifelong personal growth and fulfillment
Academics at Machon Chana are based on a broad multi-disciplinary approach to education. Young women study Biblical and Jewish Studies, Jewish heritage, Hebrew and Yiddish languages, Jewish law, Jewish ethics, prayer, and Chassidic philosophy. Students at Machon Chana can study full time, part time, or with short term goals.
Machon Chana offers financial aid, which includes scholarships offered by the school. Students may apply for The Chana Legacy Scholarship or the Keren Nochum Scholarship. Additionally, young women attending Machon Chana may seek a loan or pay for their education with a work study program.
Half of the students at Machon Chana are international students. The school is appropriate for young women of any age.
