Focus On Our Lady Of Mercy School

Our Lady Of Mercy School is a Catholic school that attempts to give students a sense of caring and belonging along with a strong academic foundation. Located in the Bronx, it is a part of the Archdiocese of New York.

The school serves Pre-K through 8th grade. Parents are encouraged to allow the following time management periods for homework:

  • Pre-K and Kindergarten – 15 minutes;
  • 1st and 2nd Grades – 30 minutes;
  • 3rd and 4th Grades – 45 minutes;
  • 5th and 6th Grades – 60 minutes;
  • 7th and 8th Grades – 90 minutes.

These times may vary depending on your child, but in general students spend about this long performing homework assignments each day.

Students at Our Lady Of Mercy School are graded on academic achievement and character development. The former is determined by class work, homework, daily quizzes, unit tests, comprehensive exams, and special assignments and projects. Character development is noted on the report card as “Conduct Grade” and is determined by following class and school rules, caring for personal property, showing respect to teachers, treating other students with respect, exercising self control, listening attentively, and using technology appropriately.

Our Lady Of Mercy School has a strict dress code that must be followed by all students. The school also has a well defined code of conduct.
