St. Gabriel School is a Catholic elementary parochial school located in the Bronx, NYC. The school is a member of the Archdiocese of New York and was established in 1941. While children of any faith are welcome to attend, St. Gabriel School is upfront about its commitment to prepare children to receive the sacraments of the Roman Catholic faith.
St. Gabriel School offers a full academic curriculum for children ages 3 through 14, pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
In pre-school, three year olds meet twice a week for two classes and four year olds meet three times a week. The average class size is 16 and is taught using a parent-cooperative strategy. Individual and group activities are presented to learn math, science, reading, art, music, and socialization.
Starting in kindergarten, students begin to attend school all day.
The educational curriculum for grades 1 through 8 are very rigorous with the first five grades being self-contained and grades 6-8 more departmentalized. Students in grades 3-8 take computer education classes. Students may also take classes in Spanish from the first grade through eighth.
Students from St. Gabriel School are accepted into some of the best Catholic high schools in New York City.
In addition to academics, students are encouraged to participate in community service events and fun activities sponsored by the school.
